Seminar of Opera Critics "The Great Verdi in Lithuania"

"

On 10 October Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre shall hold the VIII International Seminar of Opera Critics titled “The Great Verdi in Lithuania”.

In order to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi, LNOBT decided to present a whole week of special events dedicated to this composer. The stage of the LNOBT was never short of Verdi opera productions – it is enough to mention the unique tradition of “La Traviata” that’s been going on for many decades… And now, our newest premiere is Verdi’s early work “Ernani”. How could we compare the Verdi tradition in Lithuania to the traditions that surround Verdi’s legacy abroad?

These questions inspired to invite critics for a collective conversation about Verdi’s operas in Lithuania and abroad. The Seminar is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
