"Echoes of Time": Tour of the Polish National Ballet

"

On 4th and 5th of December, 2013, Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre shall welcome an extraordinary dance performance ""Echoes of Time"", presented by the Polish National Ballet from the Wielki theatre in Warsaw.

The performance is a part of the unique cultural exchange between Lithuanian and Polish theatres, patronized by President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė and President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski. On 8 and 9 November Lithuanian National performed ""Barbora Radvilaitė"" and ""Čiurlionis"" with great success in Warsaw, and now the Lithuanian audiences are impatiently waiting for continuation of the project in Vilnius.

The Polish National Ballet is Poland’s leading ballet company. It continues the programme policy of a classical formation, which is the effect of the Warsaw ballet’s tradition. The company is going through a process of building new quality according to the best European standards. The artistic effects have won recognition at home and abroad. They are noted regularly by the opinion-forming London-based specialist periodical “Dance Europe” as well as the International Herald Tribune, New York Times, and other foreign publications.

""Echoes of Time"" is a ballet evening consisting of three one-act ballets 'Century Rolls"", ""Moving Rooms"" and ""Artifact Suite"".

“Our production called ""Echoes of Time"" is an evening by three choreographers from the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, where the energy of contemporary dancers is at the forefront, the way they overcome the barriers of physical fitness, and their sometimes incredible brilliance of movement. Under this physicality, however, lie inspirations which the audience can experience freely and unrestrictedly. The three pieces are: ""Century Rolls"", created specially for the PNB by the British choreographer Ashley Page, my own ""Moving Rooms"", designed earlier for the Dutch National Ballet, and ""Artifact Suite"", the first ever performance by a Polish company of the famous work by the American choreographer William Forsythe, who had a huge influence on the development of ballet at the turn of the century.” ~ Krzysztof Pastor
