Jānis Apeinis to Perform the Role of Figaro in "Il barbiere di Siviglia"

"


Due to an unexpected illness of soloist Laimonas Pautienius, the role of Figaro in ""Il barbiere di Siviglia"" on 29th January shall be performed by a prominent Latvian baritone Jānis Apeinis. 


Janis Apeinis graduated from the Vocal dept. of the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music (2002) and received his Master degree in 2004. He studied with Prof.Arvids Imants Luste and Margarita Gruzdeva. He participated in master-classes with Rashele Shulova (1999), Axel Bauni (2002) and Rolando Panerai (2002). 

He received Staburadze Ltd. scholarship at the Jazeps Vitols 2nd International Vocal Competition, scholarship holder of Eniro Ltd. and the Creative Foundation (2003). Janis Apeinis is Prize winner of the 3rd International Jazeps Vitols Vocal Competition (2004).

Janis Apeinis made his debut at the Latvian National Opera in 2003. He made his debut in the title role of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin at the Tiroler Landestheater in 2008 and returned to the Tiroler Landestheater with the role of Carlo Gerard in Giordano's Andrea Chenier (2010).

Laureate of the annual Latvijas Gaze Award as the Best Opera Soloist of the Year (2008, 2011, 2012). His roles include Yeletsky (Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades), Escamillo (Bizet's Carmen), Sharpless (Puccini's Madama Butterfly), Marcello (Puccini's La Bohème), and Joseph (Esenvalds's Joseph Is A Fruitful Bough) among others.
