Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre is introducing a brand new one-day “Festival X” dedicated to the young generation of creators. It is a creative talent platform where new theatrical forms, ideas and names are born.
The name of the “Festival X” stands for the unknown – that which has not yet been discovered but will soon become visible. Here, young creators will be able to test their ideas on a professional stage, and the audience will be the first to see new names. The festival is an open space where different disciplines, generations and creative visions meet.
Laima Vilimienė, the General Manager of LNOBT, emphasizes the significance of the event for the younger generation: “Festival X” is a talent platform for young creators, providing an opportunity to present their opera and ballet interpretations on the national stage.”
The festival program is shaped by the works of the laureates of the young creators' competition. This year's participants were invited to interpret one of the most dynamic opera scenes – the finale of Act II of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro", complementing it with an original introductory stage sketch. The selected teams will present their creative interpretations on the Main Stage of the LNOBT.
The festival program is complemented by the ballet project "Creative Impulse", already familiar to the audience – a choreographic workshop initiative launched in 2012 by the then director of the company, Krzysztof Pastor. The inclusion of this project in the program expands the scope of the festival, combining creative interpretations of opera and ballet.
Festival "X" is a space to discover and be discovered – it is an open, welcoming stage for a new generation of theatre. For the audience, it is a great opportunity and perhaps the only chance to look at the works of tomorrow's creators.
The festival will take place in the Main Hall, but the tickets are without assigned seats.
