BIOGRAPHY

Petri Lindroos is an illustrious Finnish bass with impressive power and stamina.

Since his Master’s degree in Music at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki 1997, Petri Lindroos has performed in many opera houses in the major European cities such as Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, Brussels, Luxembourg, Paris, London, Munich, Milan, Rome, etc.

His repertoire includes such roles as King Philip II (Don Carlos), Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra), Zaccharia (Nabucco), Mefistofele (Mefistofele) by Boito, Mefistophéles (Faust) by Gounod and Mefistophéles (La Damnation du Faust) by Berlioz, Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro), Commendatore and Leporello (Don Giovanni), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), and Pimen (Boris Godunov). Petri Lindroos is also an interpreter of the big passions and masses throughout the whole Europe.

In recent seasons the artist has performed Rocco (Fidelio) at Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Ramfis (Aida) at Opera North Leeds, Marcel (Les Huguenots) at Hungarian National Opera, Simone (Gianni Schicchi) at Norwegian National Opera, Beethoven’s Symphony 9 with Kent Nagano and Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at Norwegian National Opera in Oslo, Sarastro (The Magic Flute) at Copenhagen Royal Opera, Zemlinsky’s Lyrische Sinfonie Op. 18 at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki with Leif Segerstam. Among his successes may be mentioned his interpretation of Pimen in Boris Godunov at the Finnish National Opera stage and his appearance as Leporello with the La Monnaie-tour in Tokyo, as well as a series of Verdi’s Requiem (Westminster Cathedral, Verdi Festival in Parma) and a tour with the Bavarian Radio-orchestra singing Messe Solennelle by Berlioz under the baton of Maestro Riccardo Muti.

In addition to his singing career, P. Lindroos coaches and teaches students as well as professionals from the whole of Scandinavia, and is proud to be able to give forth the formidable singing technique he was taught by his father, the famous tenor, Peter Lindroos.
