The idea to create this small production based on E. T. A. Hoffmann's tale “The Nutcracker and the King of Mice” came to director Jūratė Sodytė and five musicians of LNOBT’s orchestra, performing the musical suite of P. Tchaikovsky's ballet “The Nutcracker” with wind instruments. This is a musical dance tale to which we invite our youngest spectators. In this “Story of the little girl Maria” the little theatregoers will be able to get acquainted with both the art of ballet and the wind instruments, which in this adventurous story also become the characters of a fairy tale. What is this tale about? One winter night, together with the Nutcracker and her uncle Drosselmeyer, Maria embarks on a wonderful journey, intending to follow her dream… After experiencing many adventures, she happily returns home. But who will tell if it was dream or reality?

It is recommended for preschool children.

The performance is partially supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture
