I’LL PLUCK THE RED ROSE

A concert for Algimantas Raudonikis’85th birthday and 60th anniversary of his artistic activity

Very few people in Lithuania have never heard of Algimantas Raudonikis, a composer who has written more than 700 pieces of various genres, including some 500 songs and over 100 dances. He has organised almost 500 performances of his music in virtually all towns and cities across his native country. He was awarded the Government’s Culture and Arts Prize in 2014 for his contribution to Lithuanian music.

Lithuanian Composers’ Union and the Trimitas State Wind Orchestra present a two-part performance dedicated to the outstanding composer and packed with his hits cherished by more than one generation of listeners, including Homeland; For You, Mother; I’ll Wait for You to Come (better known as I’ll Pluck the Red Rose); Tenderness; Seashore Flower; Evening with a Flower; My Heart’s Still Bright; and many more.

Vocal parts by Giedrė Kelpšaitė, Judita Leitaitė, Gabrielė Pavilionė, Kristina Zmailaitė, Lijana Žiedelytė, Paulius Bagdanavičius, Eugenijus Chrebtovas, Valdemaras Frankonis, Viktoras Malinauskas, Tomas Pavilionis, Edmundas Seilius, and Mečislovas Subelis.

The concert will be hosted by a charismatic musicologist Viktoras Gerulaitis; maestro Algimantas Raudonikis is expected in person.
