Celebratory Concert
GLORIA  FOR  LITHUANIA

Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre along with all Lithuanians in celebrating the Centenary of the Restoration of the State. On this very special occasion, the theatre is going to present an exclusive celebratory concert “Gloria for Lithuania”.

According to one of the initiators of the project Aurimas Švedas, “For many centuries, the voices of bells saved people from being lost in time and space. They delivered news, warned of dangers, helped find the way, inspired those who were saying their prayers and invited to celebrations. Accompanying human life, bells turned into witnesses of history. This is why they can tell us many wondrous things. All we need to do is to stop for just one moment and listen carefully to the voices of bells”. On this evening there will be 100 bells announcing the celebration of our State and glorifying Lithuania.

The sound of bells was the inspiration that unified prominent Lithuanian composers Vaclovas Augustinas, Linas Rimša, Anatolijus Šenderovas, Raminta Šerkšnytė, Mindaugas Urbaitis, Kipras Mašanauskas – all of them wrote new pieces especially for the concert. Their works shall be performed by LNSO, LVSO and LNOBT symphony orchestras, LNOBT Chorus, Kaunas State Choir, choirs “Vilnius” and “Polifonija”. “Gloria for Lithuania” will also feature conductors Juozas Domarkas, Mirga Gražinytė, Vytautas Miškinis, Modestas Pitrėnas, Gintaras Rinkevičius, Martynas Staškus, Robertas Šervenikas. The author of the idea for the concert and its director is Dalius Abaris. “Gloria for Lithuania” will be broadcasted on Lithuanian National Television.
