During the tours the participants get acquainted with the history, activities and structure of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet theatre and its departments. We also tell a story of how the genre of opera was born in Italy as well as about the first performance of opera in Lithuania and its further development – all of this is illustrated with a painting created by A. Mackonis. The most interesting part of the tour is a journey to the backstage of the theatre, where the unknown world of technical miracles and theatrical magic is revealed. Here you get a chance to get to know everything about the complex machinery of the stage, the peculiarities of opera and ballet performances and also may take a look at the costume storerooms, rehearsal halls, workshops of stage designs and try out props used in the productions. Theatre’s foyer offers us a chance to see exhibitions and photographs from different productions. And then, the final and most amusing part of the tour, when each and every one can try on costumes from opera and ballet performances as well as try their hand in fencing.
LNOBT reserves the right to forbid entrance into certain areas of the theatre indicated in the programme of the tour in case of unfavourable technical, artistic or other circumstances.
