The Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Lithuania’s biggest and oldest professional opera theatre, is constantly expanding its repertoire by including not only new opera productions but also large-scale symphonic works. This CD presents Giuseppe Verdi’s MESSA DA REQUIEM, recorded during its first performance on 8 April 2000, which was dedicated to the memory of all the theatre’s artists on occasion of its 80th anniversary.

In 2001, the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre presented the premiere of somewhat unusual genre and style – “Kurt Weill’s Women”, based on the music by the famous composer. The first part of this performance is made up of Weill’s most popular songs. The second part is Weill’s and Bertold Brecht’s ballet chanté (ballet with songs) called “Die sieben Todsünden” (“The Seven Deadly Sins”). The CD “Kurt Weill’s Women” presents the recording of this performance.
Recorded at BONIFA Studio in 2002.
